Coffee update ... [More:]Following this, I made myself a strong mug of good Colombian coffee this morning and it was just gorgeous. I'm going to try to stick to no more than a couple a day, and none after lunch.

I was drinking far too much of it for my own good, but, oh, that first one this morning was sheer bliss.

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions. Try as I might, I can't develop a taste for tea, other than Chinese tea, so I think a trip to Romford and the Chinese supermarket is on my to-do list for next week.
In related coffee news I bought pips a French Press at Porto Rico Importers (that's how they spell it) last night. As I walked around shopping, ths coffee beans scattered on the floor crunced under my feet. I imagined that if I was murdered the cops would use the grounds embedded in the treads of my sneakers to trace my movements and solve the case.

I watch way too much CSI.

Nah, theres's not such thing as watching too much CSI. Unless you watch that David Caruso version and then five seconds of exposure to his one expression is too much.

I used to resist the allure of the bean but now I'm a confirmed drinker. I take a thermos with me to work everyday and love it. But I will freely admit that black coffee tastes like death to me. I need a liberal addition of some creamer, preferably the Creme Brulee flavored stuff (which is just flippin' fantastic!).

I'm a cream and sugar guy, myself, mainly since I started my coffee drinking a career at Dunkin Donuts like every other yutz in America pre-Starfucks. There was this Irish Creme flavored creamer that I dug, but it seems to have vanished. That happens with stuff I like all the time, like the Monterey Ranch Chicken at Wendy's, this Mantango Zinger Iced Tea I once had, and Nance's Sharp & Creamy Mustard. Corporate American likes torturing me is what it is.

CSI is a fine show, but like all the forensic shows it's merely a descendant of Quincy. Just like Law & Order is merely a more compex Dragnet.

How does she like the press, jon? Everyone here is nutso over it. Supposedly it makes the coffee really silky and smooth.

We don't have any coffee for it yet, but she was thrilled to get the contraption, though.

What helped my coffee addiction was purchasing an good espresso machine. One cuppa does me nicely now. Not that there's more caffeine in espresso, but that it's such a hassle to make that it's only worth doing once a day. The reason it's worth doing at all, though, is that one cuppa is damn fine, damn fine indeed.

I'm not a huge coffee drinker (my enormous cafe au lait in the morning carries me all day) but the smell of coffee in the afternoon hits me hard. If we are browsing at the book store, for example, I just can't resist that smell and have to go spend $3.89 on a stupid cup of coffee that I don't need.

Husband Dave is 37 and never took to coffee so it is a closed world to him. What is really strange is he has worked the night shift for 15 years.

You know what would probably be a really good seller? An alarm clock that had scent sachets in it that blew the smell of brewing coffee into the room. There is just about no better smell to wake up too.

Except the smell and sound of sizzling bacon! Mmmmm!

I like my coffee like I like my men: dark and bitter.

If you all want the best coffee experience you'll ever have, and also save the world at the same time, plus fuck Starbucks, you should check out Batdorf and Bronson coffee from Olympia, WA. It's all shade-grown organic stuff, they pay to have their growerrs visit their stores so they can see exactly where they beans end up and how they're made, and it's kickass to drink. It's the only coffee I've ever bought that I could smell across the room while it was still in the bag. This isn't a plug, I don't work there, it's seriously just the best coffee on the planet in my opinion. Check it:
