I Smell New Jersey -- Evidence appears to be mounting that the mysterious "maple syrup" smell which puzzled New Yorkers on Oct. 27 and Dec. 8 may have emanated from New Jersey.
I will be in Middlesex County tomorrow. I'll be sure to give it a sniff. I hope it smells like rhubarb.

I was so obsessed with that syrup story. What a wacky thing.

Did any of y'all in NYC smell the maple?

As Eric Schlosser noted in his 2001 book, "Fast Food Nation," northern New Jersey produces "about two-thirds of the flavor additives sold in the United States."

That part was the freakiest thing in FFN. Who cares about the slaughterhouses, what really bothers me is freeze dried, artificially flavored and colored apple bits pretending to be blueberries.
