Christine Quinn now has the 2nd most powerful job in NYC Govt--City Council Speaker. You go! : >
Council Speaker?

Well, you know women, they never stop talking anyway, so... ;>

Gawker has a great thing too: New Council Speaker Christine Quinn Takes the Good, She Takes the Bad

In other good news Rhino records has released 4 deluxe edition T-Rex albums and I get to document them!

You won't fool the Children of The Revo-l-u-tion!

she definitely is more Natalie than Ms. Garrett tho.

mmmm, Natalie. She was a hot number. I'm not kidding.

Tootie developed nicely too.

Jo was the coolest of the bunch, style-wise, but sadly she looked like a tough beaver.

I liked Beth and Amy better than Jo.

Remember when Tootie bought that bong just because she thought it looked cool. She kept going ...

booonnnggg, booonnnggg

Cracked me up good. Mrs Garrett was so pissed.

Perhaps, ico, but what were your feeling about the ball of molten sexuality that was Dwayne F. Schnieder?

Well I was talking about the book Little Women by Louisa Alcott...hee. But as far as Schneider goes, I thought he was absolutely repulsive. Just....ew.

EW!

Oh, well.

Wow, Marc Bolan is even more of a genius than I remembered. Tanx is one great album.

ico: I was just reading the third book in that series. Jo turned out to be such a hausfrau, literally.

Right now I'm listening to Stop Stop Stop by The Hollies. I think it's from the 60s? It sounds brand new...great song. If I ever get around to doing a mecha radio thing I'm playing it.

TrishaLynn, I know! I ended up not liking her much, but I'm not sure why.

I don't know that particular song but the Hollies did indeed rock. "Look Through Any Window," and "Carousel," are among the best Brit Invasion tracks ever.

ico: I think it was because it seemed like she gave up her dreams to live those of her dear Professor Bhaer. And when you're reading this and are a young girl, who did you really hope she'd end up with? The old poor professor or the hot young rich childhood friend? PLEASE! The digs in the third chapter about fame and paparazzi are also a bit telling.

I must say, Houston did it first.
Meet Annise Parker, our city controller (second highest elected official).

it's funny but it's often red states that break the barriers. we are not trailblazers at all in NY, and it's wrong.

(we've also had machine politics that stopped women and gays from moving up for ages and ages--and before that, black men and Jews--and finally died with Koch)

isn't there a lesbian Chief of Police in TX somewhere too?

Lupe Valdez, apparently -- but there's now a second she-lovin' sheriff.
