Taking a leave of absence. →[More:]
As I mentioned previously, I'm taking some serious time off from the internet. I've promised myself to get back to my writing in 2006 and I am a *terrible* (ie, great) procrastinator--I can't seem to spend
just a little time on the internet. As a result, it's all or nothing and this year the coin's landed on the side of nothing.
I have two half-completed novels and four screenplays in various states of undress. I'm attempting to get the scripts completed by May 1 in order to enter (yet again) the
Nicholl Fellowship. I also hope to finish one of the novels by year-end.
I have set up a
mailing list for those interested in dobbsian happenings and whereabouts. If you wish to keep current on my status on these projects, and other things in my life, feel free to sign up. At the very least I will be doing a mailout once a month, but they may happen as frequently as weekly. It's a closed list (no email addresses shared or revealed) and two way (so you can write back to me, though others on the list won't see your replies). I will also do my best to send links to MP3s with each mailing so if you've dug my music posts, you might want to sign up for that alone. (Just scroll to the bottom of each mailout and the links'll be there.)
The list is opt-in (confirmation is emailed) and all emails will begin with [dobbs updates] - subject if you want to set up a filter.
I may also send links to excerpts of the writing, depending on ... various factors, I guess. I haven't decided yet.
I may also also end up scrapping the list and finishing
Bludge (just a test page, nothing much works), but that's seriously on the backburner for now. If it does happen, the list'll know first.
Anyway, enough of my babbling. I thank you all for a fun and interesting 2005 here on MetaChat. You've all been very helpful with my silly questions about furniture, fashion, and music. I hope 2006 treats you well.
Note that 1) the email address in my profile still works and 2) I will check back to this thread once a day throughout the week and then I'll be gone. Again, thanks for a great (though unproductive) year! You'll be missed.
