My guess is that the owner was really skinny and the cat just knew that it would not be able to get enough sustenance from the corpse.

Of course, now we all have to question whether or not our cats would dial 911 if we had an accident. I can just imagine screaming at my cats for help as they casually clean each other and go to sleep.

Grossly enough, an elderly woman in my local area -- within walking distance, in fact -- kacked it and was eaten by her menagerie of cats. 911? Hell, no, that'd spoil the meal.
