Ask MeCha: looking for royalty free or inexpensive photos that would be appropriate for... an online tax school. Preferably with different races represented and not children. Anyone got any links/suggestions?

ethylene, yeah, my accountant is starting an online tax school--a place for accountants to take courses in things they otherwise wouldn't specialize in. He's asked for my help with the web site.

If you own MS office products check the photos in the clip art gallery. They have some good ones and you can use them commercially without further charge. I have used this as a low cost solution for clients in the past. Also, search for Dreamweaver template sites. For $20 - $60 USD you can buy a template with some relevant photos.

arse_hat, always wondered how those template sites work. Do the prices include rights to the photos as well? The whole thing seems so strange to me.

" Do the prices include rights to the photos as well". They give you the rights for use on one site. If you want to use them again you would have to pay again. If you want worldwide exclusive rights then the price is usually about 8 to 10 times the regular price for the template.

eth, the client asks for multi culti so that's what I find 'em. I don't argue, I just invoice. And now I'm all curious about the future favor.
