I'm sick... [More:]

In the body instead of just in the mind (don't cry for me metachatgentina, I'll bounce back, me no whiney!) so I am going home soon, home where for various reasons I don't rock the internet, home for four days, for laziness, Katamari Damacy and not working, thank god.

For this reason I am wishing you all an early happy new year and a brilliant and prosperous 2006 filled with fucking and roast fowl and healthy selves and family and loud music and good times.

If you need to buy any books may I suggest either Kyril Bonfiglioli or Charles Portis. My love to all...
Rock the new year, Divine_Wino. Roll last year up into a little ball, and *poof*!

Get well, have a great one, and see you next year.

I am also sick. Those of you who were on IRC last night may remember that I absented myself for a while to barf. There was further barfing throughout the night and I appear to have a low-grade fever. So stay away from me!

I sneezed fourteen times in a row last night, it was a great high for about a second and then I totally lost my mind and rampaged around the bathroom from the micro-concussion, then I realized I am an ebola monkey on the loose, call Dustin Hoffman.

If you had only eaten the cheese horn, this wouldn't have happened. By the way, Metafilter has been completely taken over by smug narcissistic idiots. I'm glad there's this place.

If you have colds, take Airborne (or the Walgreens generic Walbourne)! It's a miracle drug.

No, I'm here, too, jonmc.

Feel better, DW. See you in the new year, hopefully for a beer sometime.

IRFH, you're a harmless little fuzzball. The fuckhead brigade has made that place home. It nigh impossible for me to read it without getting enraged.

Well I certainly hope all the sickies feel better soon.

Now go stand far, far, away from me.

Don't you go wishing family on me.

Yeah - I know what you mean, jonmc. It sometimes doesn't seem worth the effort. But every once in a while someone will genuinely surprise me, and that, for me at least, is wealth enough.

Also - hold on, all you sickies. I'm doin' the flu mambo right there with you.

*hopes sickies get better in the body and worse in the head*

Bonfiglioli or Portis. Yes friends, these are the kind of choices we all want to have, the kind of choices that life in a free society is all about. The cop on the beat, the milkman on his route, the librarian at her desk and the plumber with his arm down the toilet all ask themselves the same thing at the end of the day:

"I've done a good job for America and it's time to put my aching feet up. Now then: Bonfiglioli or Portis?"

They didn't ask this question in Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany, friends. They don't ask this question in Saudi Arabia, or North Korea, or that place that used to be Burma until it was overrun by cardboard generals. But here in the good ol' U S of A, now more than ever, it is our duty to ask:

Bonfiglioli or Portis?

(Bonfiglioli has more fucking, if that helps at all)

(hmmm, I think I may be getting sick too...)

Hopefully y'all will be recovered and bug-free before the new year... hope you're over it ASAP.

Best wishes to ALL you MeCha's in '06... now stop sneezing! (And barfing!)

Aw, Wino. I hope you feel better soon. Thank you for the well-wishes. Hope you get to fuck some fowl and roast your family yourself!

I feel everyone's pain (assuming you don't mind me touching your pain and all) and can also comiserate. My girls (and now me) have had colds, with an odd bunch of symptoms:
1) sore throat (but just sorta at the top, mainly at night).
2) some coughing, runny noses type stuff.
3) And this is the oddest: bloodshot, red, gross eyes.

Weird eh? Is someone gonna tell me it's the bird flu or something? I hope not.

Oh, I hope everyone else feels better soon too.

There's another cold sweeping thru work, and we're all sneezy and wheezy.

We'll all stay home and count down to Dick Clark's post-stroke return to his "Rockin' New Year's Eve" together here?

Workin on day 7 of the fluitude here. Distributing get well salutes to all sickies and stay well salutes to all not. Worst since '88 for me hopefully this one will do it for awhile.

What sucks is that I'm going to have to cancel my new year's eve party.
posted by matildaben 29 December | 15:46
(((((matildaben)))) can you do a raincheck?
posted by chewatadistance 29 December | 15:54
Yeah, I think I might move it a week or two later.

For those of y'all battling the cold type bugs, I second the recommendation of Airborne. I work in a building that is a germ factory (poor ventilation, everybody sharing work stations) and was getting sick REPEATEDLY until I started taking that stuff. Three or four doses a day when you either feel symptoms or you know germs are traveling through your workplace, and keep doing that until your co-workers stop bringing their germs to work.
