Splitting AVIs I have a huuuge AVI file (video: DiVx; audio: MP3) and I want to select few segments and export them as AVIs. Quickest way?
Ultra Video Splitter. I've used it a few times, seems to work fine.

(There might be an annoying watermark in the trial version <cough> (can't remember, it was a whiles ago) - and since it involves re-encoding stuff, it may take a while)

Watermarks won't do.

On the same topic: same circumstance, what's the best way to be able to access the MP3 audio in such a file? Ie. in order to be able to sample some segments out of it. I suppose a utility that does a straight rip of the MP3 into a file would be fine, and I can work on that MP3 in Audacity.

Sorry - probably too late. TMPGEnc can do it. Kill the wizard, load up the avi, select stream type: ES (audio only), and hit start. It outputs as mp2, though.

... load up the avi in the audio source box (you can leave video source box empty), select your output destination/filename,...
