Radio b - Anybody Still Up? edition Just some odds & ends.
One of my birthday presents yesterday was a copy of the "Singles" album by The Smiths. The guitar on "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" still gives me goosebumps, after all these years.

YAY!

Hi, bmarkey... I'm listening. At least 'til I have to go out and finish up some last-minute stuff.

But I just missed The Smiths. :(

Johnny Marr: ha.

And I love this DB song. Amongst many.

I'll shut up now.
posted by Frisbee Girl 24 December | 04:07
Yay, indeed. Don't nobody expect much from this - I just sorta threw it togther in my head on the way home from work yonight and stuck it on when I got home. It'll run for about an hour, all told.

Don't shut up. Please?

Ok, yay again! The Shins make me noodly inside and happy. Thanks SO much, it was perfect to come home when the teeming masses are usually asleep and find this going on! I'll likely listen as long as you feel like playing.

Yay! Up here since it's almost noon on xmas eve. Thanks!
posted by keijo 24 December | 04:19
Thank you. Glad to be of service. honestly, I was expecting to just send this out into the ether.
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:20
That's the beauty of time zones - even if the US is happily sleeping you might find somebody who to rescue from xmas carols with some good music somewhere a few thousand miles away.

BH, we approve.
posted by keijo 24 December | 04:28
Or someone with equally unconventional schedules. Much as I love what I do, the hours can be a real killer.
posted by Frisbee Girl 24 December | 04:30
Yeah, I gotta get over the US-centric way of looking at things. Thank you, Al Gore, for inventing the internet.

Just out of curiosity, keijo, wher are you?
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:30
Great, Jefferson airplane, was just thinking of them the other night while listening to a bootleg Woodstock tape.

I'm currently in Helsinki, Finland. Snowing quite heavily, pretty cold, but I've got some mulled wine.
posted by keijo 24 December | 04:32
There ya go. It's raining in Seattle (no duh0, so I'm keeping warm with Maker's Mark.
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:34
Also making many typos. Apologies to all.
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:34
Cheers!

I'm still on the coffee... (11:35 am); it's gonna be a long day.
posted by taz 24 December | 04:36
Irish coffee never killed anyone, you know...
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:37
bmarkey, I hope you're prepared to be a hit with the post-midnight masses.
posted by Frisbee Girl 24 December | 04:38
On our time zone taz, you can definitely have whisky in your coffee by now.

We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:40
Standing still among the stars you will be lost, so be a comet.
posted by keijo 24 December | 04:44
OK, since I've actually got listeners I've stuck a couple of songs on at the end. I hope winamp picks them up...
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:45
Please don't be scared by this song. It's from thier first album, before the guy who sings like a duck came onboard.
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:46
Barn's burnt down, now I can see the moon.

(?)
posted by Frisbee Girl 24 December | 04:46
Wait, Steve Perry sounds like a duck?
posted by Frisbee Girl 24 December | 04:47
I'm not ascared, bmarkey!

keijo - If I actually had some nice whiskey in the house, I would be tempted! It's probably a good thing I don't.

but I do have some wine. hmmmm.
posted by taz 24 December | 04:47
Every duck I've ever heard sing has sounded exactly like Steve Perry. Not only that, but they tend to cover "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'".
posted by bmarkey 24 December | 04:49
That was a great song, not scared at all.

Wine is good for you taz.
posted by keijo 24 December | 04:53
well, okay... But when I show up drunk for xmas-eve dinner, I'll be blaming keijo from Finland.
posted by taz 24 December | 04:56
Sure, go right ahead. *hides*

This is beautiful (Joan Armatrading)
posted by keijo 24 December | 04:58
Yes, beauiful Joan.

Hey dodgy (again)!
posted by keijo 24 December | 05:39
This is so cool. I love that we now sometimes have continuous hours and hours of "mecha programming".

I do really have to go do last minute stuff in about 15 minutes (no regular shops, though - yay!; just the greengrocer, the bread guy, and the wine shop), but this has been a much more calm, relaxed cmas-eve morning than I anticipated, and all the radio has been great.
posted by taz 24 December | 06:25
Me too got to go to a xmas sauna :) But thanks everybody for a great morning, especially the lovely DJs.
posted by keijo 24 December | 06:30
Have fun, keijo!
posted by taz 24 December | 06:31
I'll be finished in five minutes - thanks everyone.
