Dover court rules that Intelligent Design is not science. I'm not going to post this on the blue because I know it'll degenerate into the usual religious wars.[More:]

The following is a quote from today's eSkeptic newsletter, which does not appear to be on their web site yet, but which I got in email.

On November 4, 2005, after 40 days and nights of testimony, the first evolution-Intelligent Design trial of the 21st century drew to a close in Federal court in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. While evolution trials in the 20th century had focused more on traditional creationism, Kitzmiller et al v. Dover Area School District pit the teaching of evolution against a more legally sophisticated challenger, Intelligent Design (ID).

This morning, December 20, 2005, Judge John Jones III handed down his ruling against the teaching of Intelligent Design.
Too late, its already nearing 100 comments. In any case, good news for common sense, and cheers to good precedents!

Their first mistake was hiring Michael Behe to testify in favor of ID, instead of a scientist.

I'm saying a prayer of thanks to the FSM. And the IPU. (She seems a little more MetaChatish.)

Ooooooo...I didn't know about the unicorn. I'm going to convert.

And despite the ruling, we're still saving up for private school for the mini rossi.

...by which I mean, we're disheartened with the public schools here in our part of PA.

Once again, the medievalists have failed to learn the lesson: nullus in verbum. This was supposedly settled in the 17th century, but noooo, we have to thrash it all out again.

I feel sorry for the plaintiffs. Why should anybody have to go through this crap? Well, hats off to some more citizen soldiers in the culture wars. Defenders of democracy, eternally vigilant, soldiers in the night. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

*salutes*
