Candy! mr. g and I are at the final stages of christmas shopping -- buying candy to fill stockings. What's some good candy to put in the big socks? The candy is for both adults and kids.
You need a chocolate orange. : )

Toblerone is always popular.

Toblerone's for grownups. It's not really a kid candy. I know this, I started out as a child.

Don't forget the old-fashioned stuff like chocolate straws and ribbon candy and barley pops and maple candy. I totally love anything made in a mold, shaped like Christmas stuff. I'm a sucker for that. No pun intended ;)

And fudge!

Oh I used to love getting chocolate coins, too.

I love that website, iconomy.

This ribbon candy is actually made by my wife's uncle in Glens Falls, New York. It's delicious. :)

My personal favorite: chocolate covered pretzels. Sweetness + Saltiness = good.

Candy buttons- you know, the little blobs on the long thin paper in a rainbow variety of colors.

Really, selfnoise? I'm going to order it, then. What's better than peanut butter?

Nuttin', that' what.

Don't forget all the Wonka stuff: Nerds, bottlecaps, runts, and sweettarts. Those are my favorites.

I don't know, but do us all a favor and skip the fruit. please.

My personal favorite is the cinnamon-flavored peanut-butter filled ribbon candy. Sounds a little weird, but it's incredibly good. Sadly I think you have to drive to their store or call 'em up to get it.

Clementines!

The squirrel is right. It ain't stuffed unless there's some citrus in the sock.

Peppermint bark is good - the chocolate pieces topped with crushed candy canes.

I am going to stop at Dylan's Candy bar on the way home from work, I think. Happy times.

Comic books!

Oh, candy? How about a whistle? I recommend the Acme Thunderer.

Oh, yeah, but you want candy. Well, right. I don't know?

Hershey's kisses in the green and red wrappers. And, duh...candy canes! Ooh, and the Lifesaver sweet story thing.

Anything but licorice.

Jelly babies, flying saucers, love hearts, brown gems/jazzies, creme eggs (hard to find, but wonderfully inappropriate).
posted by flopsy 19 December | 16:11
I lurve licorice. Also ginger chews.

it might be hard to find if you're in america, but Cadbury's Flakes. my god, that is the best candy bar in the whole world. Fortunately there are stores that carry english candy here in nyc.
posted by shmegegge 19 December | 16:37
Cadbury chocolate in general is my favorite and widely available in the U.S. Another thing I found just this weekend that are interestingly *good* are chocolate covered cranberries (something like Raisinettes with a cranberry kick). I found them at Costco, but I'm sure they're available elsewhere.
