Some families are weird. Like mine. [More:] Just got a phone call that my mom is in the hospital. However, I'm not supposed to call her for another 50 minutes because the Survivor final tribal council is imminent. (And by the way, it hasn't come on here yet. Please, no spoilers.)

I mean, that's weird, right? Right?

Mostly, I think I'm confused and maybe fishing for sympathy and/or normalcy.
That is kind of weird. I hope things with your mom are okay...*sending good vibes*

normalcy in families is about as likely as a queer quarterback. it happens, but even then, it's weird.

i wish you and your family the best, and speedy recovery.

she's watching it? (that's a good sign)

I finally decided "fuck the rules" and I called. Of course, got no real information from her (another hallmark of the family). Chest pains. Not scary on its own, but the family has a loooong history of heart troubles.

Bit scary.

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent, ya'll.

{{mudpuppie}} EVERY family is weird. The ones that seem normal? Are the really scary ones.

I hope your mom is ok.

she'll be ok...they have tons of good heart medicines and stuff.

I hope your mom is okay, mudpuppie.

My dad is a tenured physicist and is currently trying to destroy Isaac Newton (!). My mom buys Tobey Maguire movie after Tobey Maguire movie because he reminds her of me.

Everyone's family is weird.

Hope she's Ok mudpuppie. Keep us updated, alright? (And I hope the contestant she's supporting wins.)

I hope it's just really bad heartburn, muddy, and that it's merely another level of wierdness rather than anything medical.

I hope your mom is ok, mudpuppie. And you know, nothing you posted sounded too weird to me. But, see above re. weird families.

After my dad's heart surgery, I was not allowed (per him) to visit him in the hospital. No one was, except my mom. I guess, knowing him and how he would feel about the vulnerability of being in a hospital bed, I wasn't too surprised by this. But, it was a little odd explaining to people in the days after his surgery that no, I hadn't seen him since the operation, but yes, I am a decent daughter, I promise. So yes, families are weird.

I hope your mom's okay.

Muddie, she probably just went into the hospital to get a TV where she could control the remote during "Survivor". As the doctors on St. Elewhere said on their hundredth show about a patient with recurring chest pains... "A hundred episodes? She'll run forever." :)

My mom has put phone conversations with me on hold (as in, she stops talking and acknowledging me) for commercials on TV. Everyone's families are weird.

My mom won't let me use wire hangers.

Hope all is ok with your mom, mudpuppie. It is kinda weird to put you off though. Maybe she was scared, too? My family has always been really detached when delivering serious medical news. Like it was someone they weren't related to or something. Weirdness galore!

Hope everything turns out well mudpuppie.

and families are all weird. parents particularly. it's what happens when you only hang out with people you married or made.
