09 December 2005

Well, that's that. After several attempts to resign, I just found out that my position is being eliminated. At least, there's some finality to this saga. Stiff drink, bottoms up.
At least they gave me a month : )

good luck, moonbird.

Hahahaha, what a typical corporate saga. Congrats on being free and congrats on a month to plot your next move!

Actually, this is a dream come true. When your position is eliminated, you are totally eligible for unemployment with no questions asked, so you can laze around like I have done for the last 4 months. At this point, I'm so relaxed, I'm practically comatose. except for the moments each day when I panic about not having a job. Those are coming harder, faster, and closer in between lately.

That's bizarre. As mygothlaundry points out, it would have made more sense for them to accept your resignation in the first place. Oh well. Congrats on your freedom!

I just quit one of my jobs...literally one minute ago

*breathes deeply*
*sighs*

It does feel good...

Congrats!

Congratulations! Make sure you make the most of the unemployment vacation.

Well, as it turns out, she wants my *letter of resignation* for 13 January. But I reckon she's amiable enough to fire me then for the unemployment $. Then again, I'm really undecided whether I want to go down that road. Ah, indecision!

Sweet. unemployment for you.

If the position is eliminated, why do you need a resignation letter? It sounds like she might be trying to screw you out of unemployment.

My sympathies, moonbird. I just found out that I'm being set free from my crappy job sometime in January.

What is it with jobs and Asheville? That's two MeCha's who've lost theirs there, right?

If you don't give her a letter of resignation, what's she going to do, fire you?
posted by kenko 09 December | 15:41
Yeah, I'm wondering about that. I'd love me some unemployment money, but it seems that delmoi might be right. She worded what she was saying very carefully, but she is seemingly willing to be reasonable regarding everything else. Looks like I'll have this chat with her on Monday.

Moonbird that sounds fishy about the resignation letter. I'd go for the unemployment, myself. Keep us posted dollink.

i think i'd rather miss out on the unemployment money than have a 'firing' on my record. i don't know how that might look to someone who just gave the old .cv a quick glance.

of course, i am young, and stupid. and, commas.

As someone not from the business world, what is CV? I've been seeing it alot lately.

My brother once quit a construction job so he could switch into a different ob and union that same day. Then the union wouldn't let him in and he found out he would have been laid off two days later. Eventually everything worked out.
