Probably not worth a Mefi post, but I found this article on radar detection kinda fascinating.
[More:]
I've never bought one of these, and I'm rarely in such a hurry as to speed. Actually, I'm not sure my car CAN speed. But that's another story. Anyway, imagining a secret underground world of obsessive speeders is fun, even if the reality is somewhat stupid and dangerous.
I remember old stories about how captured/defected MiGs were all dinged up and looked like they were worked over with ballpeen hammers in order to dissipate active radar - and that it was somewhat effective.

Wonder if doing the same thing to your car would help stealth it?

Although a stealth car would be cool.

The author is not a paid consultant for any other radar detector manufacturer.

Gumball and Bullrun are completely crazy and irresponsible, but the shenanigans appeal to me. I wouldn't speed through innocent traffic anymore, but it's still ridiculously fun to cut up a canyon road.

(I have a V1. They're the Speeder's Choice.)
