is it ok to name a dog "motherf*#ker?" (i mean does the dog know)
It's ok if you're comfortable calling the dog home by that name. Our dog is named Negrita, after a great dog we met in Nicaragua, but you can bet we only use -'grita- when yelling for her in our neighborhood.
This was a hypothetical question. I don't have a dog. But I'm not happy with having posted this because it implies that I have already named a dog by this name.
Can this thread somehow be saved? Can there be redemption?
Last summer, there was a gangbanger and his white girlfriend standing my neighbor's car yelling, "Here, bitch. Come on, bitch. Get the fuck over here, bitch."
He wasn't yelling at the girl, but at a microscopic chihuahua, who had hid under the car -- probably from being yelled at. Apparently, he'd named the dog "Bitch".
There's more, but it makes me look like a prick, and perhaps a racist. Suffice to say I embarrassed him into taking his potty mouth elsewhere.
A friend named his cat Shitfoot, after its first significant action (a Native American tradition, he BSed). They called him Shiitake around company, Shitty in private.
OK, I didn't have an actual cat named dog, but my hunter in World of Warcraft had a cat named Dog. I was halfway through a Scholomance run once when one of my raid members said "Ha, Dog, that's funny."
Actually, I think "gangbanger" is a wholly inappropriate word for the press to coopt as they have, since it already had a very explicit meaning. Then again, I must have a baaaaaaad sense of humor. Or maybe it's you.
