FUCKING ITUNES CORRUPTED THE TAGS ON MY MP3S. JUST WORKS MY FUCKING ARSE.

I'M AT FUCKING WORK AND NOT HOME, FUCKING.

I HATE ITUNES!

permanently corrupted? I"ve heard of buggy behavior like this that was solved by a reinstall or wipe/reinstall (leaving the library untouched, of course)

I LIKE ITUNES BUT THAT SUCKS!

The only reason I ever open itunes is because it copies all my music to one folder and renames and groups everything. If I had another solution (on xp)I would just use winamp all the time.

WinAmp Pro does that ;) /shill

Ok, I'll try Winamp again. :) I used to use it waaay back in the day. And more recently I've used QCD which is very light and skinnable and nice. But it's the library functions of itunes I can't do without.

iTunes sucks.

iTunes installs programs that run on startup and are rather difficult to remove. Smart Playlists are nice, but at what price?

I've noticed those apps, though they don't seem to consume an enormous amount of memory.

I don't know, guys... I'm trying to feel the hate but itunes fits my needs very nicely. So far the grass hasn't been greener with any of the other apps available for Windows.

70 tags were permanently corrupted. Nothing could read the tag. I'm retagging them using Google and MusicBrainz (what an amazing service! You put your mp3 into this thing at it tells you what it is).

iTunes did something weird to a few hundred other files: it could read the tags, but nothing else could. The convert id3 version thingy did something which made these work again.

I'm just grateful the other 2000 mp3s are alright.

I hate iTunes ever since I uploaded 5.0 and it started preventing me from ever. burning. discs. bastards.

huh, never noticed that, iconomy. I should be using winamp pro.
posted by puke & cry 02 December | 23:18
Because of the DRM, miko, or Apple's shoddy programming?
posted by flopsy 02 December | 23:21
oh and I'm in the "thoroughly impressed with MusicBrainz" camp.

I don't hate iTunes enough to switch, although it has its share of quirks and outright annoyances. WinAmp just has an even weirder user interface -- I'm forever trying to reopen a panel I just closed, that sort of thing. And it doesn't have Smart Playlists, which are the bomb, and I don't know why they're so damned hard to implement.

That said I'm looking into Banshee and Songbird.

FUCK FUCKING, ALREADY. YOU HAVE CHUFFING PROBLEMS, WHAT WITH YOUR CHUFFING YELLING CHUFFING ABOUT. CAN'T HARDLY CHUFFING THINK WITH YOU CHUFFING ABOUT ABOUT CHUFFING 'FUCKING'...

Smart playlists is just a damn SQL "where" clause, it should be incredibly easy.

Flopsy -- it seems to be a common problem, according to the Itunes forums. it hasn't been diagnosed yet. Such an annoyance.
