Damn, I curse like a sailor a lot of time (more when I'm around NZers, for some reason a lot of the ppl I associate with in the US do not curse at all). I would be broke.

I wonder why $103 and not $100 (or I guess, not $87.57)?

Not sure that I like the idea, though.

"I have anger management problems." Priceless.

I'm waiting for the court case that overturns the rule.

And the movie. I'm also waiting for the movie.

This will teach these children an important lesson about the role of police officers in upholding a free and just society.

Cool thing about the movie is, it would have to be rated R to tell the whole story arc. Irony.

All the kids should go around cursing all the time. Let's see 'em try to stop it.

I frequent a bar where if you say the f-word, you have to put a quarter in the Swear Jar. They really make you. And if I say "fuck" and no one notices, I feel bad and put a quarter in the jar anyway.

I swear a lot.

I would quickly learn to throw my voice.

I recently found out that when one of my kid brother's friends described me to another one of their friends, his comment on me was that a) I was cool and b) he doesn't know anyone who swears as much as me. The other friend agreed.

I found this a little alarming, but then wondered, "What is wrong with kids today, that they are not swearing more?".

I think dooce is one of my personal favourite swearers. She can toss around motherfucker like no one I know.

Fuck that!

Wow, Language Police. Gaspode, do you Americans cuss less than kiwis in general? I know I'm pretty foulmouthed but I may be an aberrant specimen.

La Pode is a transplanted kiwi living in the USofA.

oops, it should have read "do you think Americans etc." ... I was hoping to get the benefit of her transplanted wisdom.

funny how a missing word can bring in a whole new interpretation

I cussed in front of one of my favorite professors the other day, then I flipped someone the bird while he was watching.

I feel kind of dirty now.

richat - surely you mean douche as in vaginal/anal douchebag. Right?
posted by porpoise 01 December | 19:08
muddgirl, there's nothing worse than throwing out an egregiously vile profanity and receiving disapproval and head-shakes from bystanders, instead of the admiration you expected.

This is why swearing tends to be limited to close social circles; some people just have this unjustifiable negativity towards it.

I just spent a cuss-free week around my mother. I think that's why I'm so tired.
posted by mudpuppie 01 December | 19:26
heh, nomis. Yes, in my experience I do think American swear less. Particularly women. I have other friends who think that as well, so it's not an n=1 study! It's n=4 or 5 at least!!

Then we can call it a universal.
