I'm bummed since my favorite things on Flickr are the sketch books (ie - our own mrs. pants' wonderful stuff). Plus I just paid for a Pro account so I could upload more of my own sketches (which pale compared to most of the other stuff - I'm more of a doodler without the patience or skills to commit to more professional looking stuff).
I'd be just a little bummed if all that happens is the sketches aren't searchable. But I'd be really bummed if this the first step to eliminating non-photographs from the site.
Somebody has been taking Evan Williams a bit too literally.
I wouldn't mind so much if they had a sister service for drawings and the like. Or if they had an "only search photo's" button. That'd make sense. But this is just taking Web 2.0 policy too literally, and it's doing it in a way which detracts from user experience.
Individually, not such a big deal, but to my mind, it hints at a darker malaise which has probably been caused by the politics and a clash of cultures between flickr and yahoo!. Not a good sign.
mrs pants - the only way I know of to check for NIPSA status is to search for a recent tag or heading of one of your drawings. Make sure it's a recent one so it turns up early in page results. If it's there, it's not NIPSA.
