Jessamyn, you have the most amazingly coloured eyes.
Must be weird...akin to the 3 times in 20 years I've shaved off the beard. Like finding a new body part.
thanks! the dreads + chlorine-from-swimming combo was making me into one of those nasty hippies that everyone always thought I was anyhow. I feel like I have an abnormally small head now.
Seconding peacay on your eye color and the haircut looks great, jessamyn! After having my hair waist length for over ten years, my hair is now less than an inch long in some places in the back. It's been a month and a half and I'm still not used to it yet, but I love it.
Taking a pic of the back of your own head involves setting up mirrors and things that I've been too lazy to do, but last week, I took this pic to placate the naysayers back home.
It's a modified shingle bob that tapers to super short at the nape, but with long sides/bangs. jessamyn's looks like it might be similar, but far less severe.
When I went home for Thanksgiving I met up with a buddy who had just cut off his 9-year dreadlocks and beard (his beard had dreads, too). It was wild -- I recognized his voice, and he looks enough like his brothers that he's definitely the same dude, but wow.
His wife told me when she first saw him post-haircut (he was bearded when they met) she cried for a little, then he asked her to stop crying or he might start, and then she jumped his bones.
My whole haircut fiasco took maybe 2 1/2 hours start to finish. This included the initial cutting, the massive untangling, the shampooing/conditioning/combing, and then the final cutting and clipping. My sister did an awesome job. In return I cleaned her kitchen and bathroom, got her wifi hooked up, got rid of the pantry-moth infested plastic bag nest, and let her unload some clothes and computer junk on me.
My boyfriend who has always been a love-you-no-matter-what type [as well as being a bit more normal in the presentation/looks department] keeps saying "sweetie, your HAIR..." and running his fingers through it.
it looks great, seriously. as a guy, I'm always impressed by women who drastically cut their hair after years and years of keeping it long -- what if you don't like it, it's going to take years to grow it back.
