23 November 2005

H'okay, who would like to help me eat a 20 pound bird? [More:]It won't be lavish and will be entirely lowkey, just a bunch of food and silliness. Some of the roommates may or may not be here (which could make things entertaining or educational or just plain odd), but kenko says he can make it and will bring pie. I, obviously, have the turkey and will have some wine and whatever else I can toss into the mix: salad, veggies, etc. Anyone who can get here is more than welcome. Just bring something to add to the table and your bad self.
And, ooga, if you catch this, thanks so much for the invite - swing on through if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

Have any suggestions for what a culinarily-handicapped bachelor can bring, since kenko's already bringing pie?

My prediction: a ChristmasThanksgiving miracle!

Oh my goodness! Are you back?! Bring beer or more wine or more pie or whatever! I've never done this before, we're blazing new trails here. Anything goes.

I'm betting you're nowhere near Vegas.

How do y'all feel about fennel? (This is not a pie-related question.)

mischief: San Francisco. Feel like a road trip?

kenko, I LOVE fennel.

In that case, would anyone mind if I also brought some fennel mashed potatoes?

kenko, if you don't bring them, I'll be quite disappointed.

For now, I have some errands and such to get to but here are additional details:

I live in the Mission, blocks away from a BART station and street parking is readily available. Drop me an email and I'll send the addy, directions and my cell number.

My place and the kitchen is big, so there aren't really concerns about space and if you've got a friend who's orphaned that you'd like bring along, please do so.

I'm flexible on time. Figuring dinner will be late afternoon/early evening and stretching on until we're done or decide to do something else.

Drop ins are absolutely welcome if anyone is in the neighborhood and just wants to swing on by and see what the circus is about.

Fennel...turkey...metachatters? I am so jealous. Have a wonderful time y'all!

YAY for you all! If we lived nearer we'd be there in a FLASH.

Everyone, have a great time. (Fennel potatoes sound bully. FedEx a mecha sister some leftovers, would you?)

I think I'll eat dinner and then eat some fennel mashed potatoes at "San Francisco Dinner" time (3 hours different) in your honor.

Have a wonderful time -- Frisbee Girl, you're great and very brave!

Yay! The Ghost of Thanksgiving Future did the trick!

God bless us, each and every one.

kenko, where's the fennel mashed potato recipe!? I want to make some tomorrow!
posted by Specklet 23 November | 17:09
I'm going to be using this one because it jibes the most with my memory of making them from a recipe in a book of my dad's whose title I can't remember.

*drools* I love fennel.

Hmm... I'll be there in 32 hours and 7 minutes!
