Missing out on all the drama... →[More:]I haven't been able to access MetaFilter from work for weeks. I get a DNS server error. I know my company isn't just blocking it, because it's a completely different message than the one I get when I trip over one of the pages they don't want me looking at.

Anyone know what's up, and if there's a workaround that doesn't involve admin level permissions I'll never get around here? Thanks!

try metafilter.org instead of .com?

Well, that was better than nothing! I can open metafilter.org, including the comments, but I can't login, and I can't access Meta or AskMeta. Still - an improvement. Thanks!

Yeah. They were never disabled for MetaFilter, but I tried explicitly permitting them. No change. Thanks, though!

Do you have your Drama preference set on low? Bump it up to high and you should be good to go.

what The Supreme Dominar said. could be you previously put the IP addys in the hosts file back when mefi was having DNS problems, as matt suggested at the time, and forgot about it like i did. the servers and IP addy has changed since then.

I just did. At first i was thinking "why is the text all small? Did y2karl finally take over?" and then I realised it was that I wasn't logged in.

Sadly, the host file update didn't fix the problem, either. Pout. Guess I'll just have to limit my Meta Comment/MetaTalk/AskMe drama to evenings, weekends, and holidays. On the plus side, that means I'm more likely to hang out here, now, which is probably better for my overall outlook, anyway. Thanks so much for the suggestions!
