We have sausage! [More:]First test launch of the warbaby hydraulic sausage press.
That wouldn't be patatiskorv, would it?

By which I meant potatiskorv, of course.

So, you've got homemade jam, homegrown taters for hash browns, and homemade sausage, and for your scones, which at least have a homemade air about them, you're using … margarine?

No! Not even Groucho glasses and homemade cider makes up for this!

The scones are Fisher's Scone Mix. Same as we discovered at the Seattle World's Fair when we were first introduced to scones. Fresh baked.

Margarine is how we cut down on fat. Yesterday's lunch was home-raised T-bone steaks and onion rings. We skipped the margarine to reduce our fat intake. The same beef was used in the potato sausage. Since we didn't have the chuck the recipe called for, we ground up sirloin.

*hums while eating*

Scones are dead simple to make, you know; you needn't use a mix. And if you have to cut down on fat, you should use real fatty butter, but indulge less often. Margarine: the suck.

_sausage_has_landed is hilarious - the girl's face with the open mouth on the newspaper.

My sister made 10 pumpkin pies yesterday and this morning. Her famous low fat recipe. No margarine. She also made 4 pecan pies, 4 blueberry pies (yes, she grew the blueberries) and some apple pies (from her orchard.)

This is just the warmup for Thanksgiving. It's winter. Let's eat!

I'm just hassling you because I'm fantastically envious.

You should try these scones. They're famous.

Scones are really good with honey butter and jam.

"...indulge less often."

*shakes head*

Next week, we're making all-grain beer. Probably Porter or India Pale Ale, though I make a mean Kashmir Pale Ale that is 1/4 mead and 3/4 ale.

*thinks about food some more*

I was really hoping this would be a bit more like "we have cameras" or "we have audiobooks".

*sighs*

I don't have sausage.

You too can have sausage.

I was thinking of keeping a build log of the sausage press, but there's only so much time for idle amusements.

All you need is a meatgrinder with stuffing attachment, meat, spices, fat, casings and time.

Well, I know where I'm going when the zombies take over the world.

I showed my sister this thread. She says "Hi" to everybody. And it's not zombies she's worried about, it's the cannibal army after the comet hits.

I loaned her the book about ten years ago and she immediately went out and bought a 100# sack of pinto beans. We're still eating those beans. Her beans are really good.

Her long-term plan for landscaping her property includes a twelve-foot high cinderblock wall topped with broken glass.
