What should I do for my birthday this weekend?
Let me be the first to suggest getting real drunk and naked. Then, the day after your birthday, you can be real hungover and cold, and spend a lot of time walking aimlessly in circles thinking, jesus, I wish I hadn't said that. Did I say that? Whoa. Wow, my head really hurts - I wonder if a Big Mac would make me barf or feel better? This usually works well for me. ;-)

YM, of course, MV. Happy Birthday!

Yay birthdays! Yesterday was my sister's birthday, the day before that was my best friend's birthday, and three days before that was my aunt's birthday. Next comes you, me, jonmc, and my dad.

I like birthdays.

For your birthday you should... get dressed up in a weird way and go out for cocktails. Require your friends to dress up also.

I hope it's the Hoppiest of Burfdays!

I'm going to see 'Arry Potter, of course

The Leonid showers are peaking this week. It might be fun to take a drive out into the middle of nowhere, pack a decadent basket of goodies and enjoy the show. Happy birthday, whatever you end up doing.

It's not what you do on your birthday that's important; it's who you do. Have a great day. (I suggest drinking, but that's me.)

Have steak for breakfast, crepes for lunch and cheerios for dinner. All with alcohol! Enjoy!

I seem to sense a pattern here... Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to hang with this weekend, so drinking is likely off the table.

Howsabout things to as a one man posse?

Last year in Cleveland on my birthday I went to Empress Taytu, the Ethiopian restaurant. Incredible food and drink.

I've been there. I had the Kit Fo [that was the raw beef dish]. Their bread is like zombie flesh, but man, it WAS good.

I'm sorry, what? Drinking alone is fun!

Otherwise, here are fun things to do: 1) catch a matinee at the movies 2) eat candy 3) aquarium! 4) eat more candy 5) walk around 6) rent a movie 7) eat some candy.

Personally, I like taking myself out for dinner and a movie.

Hmm. Where are you located? Are there things like museums that you keep meaning to check out but never make the time? On preview: yeah yeah aquarium!

What about football? You always have friends in a sports bar. Can the Fighting Irish can whup the Orange? Last time they played, they gots creamed. (I'm not a sports bar kind of girl, but I'll still be watching the Oregon Civil War game, myself.)

As a one man posse, there's a cool event that looks like it's worth checking out at the Miller Weitzel gallery (I am making assumptions that you will be in Cleveland, obviously). There will be pierogies there, so if all else fails, its got that going for it.

Yeah, the bread (at Empress) will fill you up for days, but it's delicious.

ND is gonna kick Orangeman ass! Maybe I'll hit up the arthouse cinema on a matinee... The MW even does look pretty cool, but I'm art galleried out right now. :)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Oh, sciurus, I thought you were surrounded by a lovely bevy of ladies!! All the same, birthday wishes, mister! Perhaps I can get away with this because I essentially host a party five or six nights a week as a profession, but one of my best birthdays ever involved a late breakfast, book in hand. Several hours in book and music stores, then back home to order in Vietnamese, drink beer and watch Eddie Izzard videos.

Do nude stuff, birthdays go well with naked.

Nude stuff is gooood. Eddie Izzard is gooood.

I don't know about both at the same time, though. That might get a little weird.

Nude? It is 35 degrees here. I mean, I do the Polar Bear thing every year, but I don't think I'm psyched up for it this early in the season.

Eddie Izzard though... I've not paid him a visit in years.

I'd never be nude in 35 degrees. That would make me cry.

But I'd be nude if it were 35 degrees outside and 70 degrees inside.

Have you ever jumped into Lake Erie in the dead of winter? Envigorating.

I don't do cold well. It's one of the things that really freaks out my body. I can't say this strongly enough: cold is painful and makes me cry. Literally.

I'm a wimp, yes I am.
