too aloof to be really married "Pannu and Ranjit do not depict the comfort level that is visible in photographs of a married couple. You and [Pannu] look distant and aloof in the photographs"
Wow. One would think, with the size of the Sikh (and Indian, in general) population in Canada, they would be aware of the cultural differences.

Y' know, I thought Emigration Canada was supposed to be lightening up a bit. This sounds so 1980. The Sikh community has GOT to be yanking some chains about this one.

We pat ourselves on the back for being so wonderfully multi-cultural. Ha.

The difference between what a government says they're about, and what they're really doing is still on a 10-15 year delay.

For every literate successful businessman who is denied his rights, there are likely 20 people who are less able to effectively complain.

I never trusted those Canadians -- xenophobes, every last one of the lot.

Fucking maple-syrup drinking canuks!

Btw, how come we don't have any good epitaphs for Canadians? Canuk really just doesn't cut it. Like calling someone from England a Brit, rather then a Limey.

They're all hosers, eh!

(Married to a Canuck, I am.)

It took three years for my Landed Immigrant application to be approved. I applied from within the country (the gov't doesn't like to do this - it's hard to get rid of people once they're here if the application isn't approved - but they will). I've been "Landed" (which is the Canuck equivilant of receiving a green card - it's called a Maple Card) for 1 1/2 years. It'll be another couple years before I can apply for citizenship.
