I am considering buying a fedora [More:]

Your thoughts?
They're hard to find. I went all over Asheville looking for one for my son to be a gangster for Halloween a couple years ago and finally lucked into one at an junk antique store at the very last minute. But he looked wonderful in it. Definitely get a fedora.

Go for it.

Fedoras are definitely the shit. They don't look so good on my enormous melon, but if you can find one that works for you it'll be money well spent.

It's worth the effort to find a hat store and try on everything before settling on one.

I like a man in a hat.

You live in Northwest Arkansas, if I remember correctly? How old are you? What kinds of things do you usually wear now? Do people call you a fop or a dandy or anything like that?

(Me, I would look like a schmuck in a fedora.)

Go for it, Joey Jeremiah.

I, too, love a man who looks good in a hat. If you look good in a fedora, wear it for all its worth!

Men in hats are like girls in glasses - in other words, to die for. I promote my s.o.'s hat fetish every opportunity I get.

You can always be THE SHADOW!

I am currently in the market for a new fedora, as that one has gotten old and floppy.

What mischief said. Get one fitted to your noggin instead of buying one at Sears or whatever. I prefer a porkpie myself, but I do have a fedora. Great in wintertime!

There was a time when every man had a fedora and wore it whenever he went out. Every now and then I see one of those old dudes, still in his ancient fedora, and I think, "How stylish."

I'm more of an Aussie waxed-cotton hat m'self. Keeps the head dry when I'm at the beach or in the woods in the rain or snow.

Please, for the love of god... Never wear a fedora with a t-shirt.

ok, in my opinion, there are people who think "i will wear this random article of clothing and it will make me look cool". i used to be one and sometimes, in the small hours of the morning, i fear i still might be.

but my other-culture partner has educated me, or at least tried. i now understand that such people are wrong. odd/unusual things can be good as part of a whole, but as a single "cool" item, they just look horribly nerdy.

so be careful. or possible other-culture partners will exchange significant glances behind your back.

Yes. Please accessorize your fedora accordingly. Goes well with a trenchcoat; add scarf as necessary.

Fedoras come in a variety of brim widths. There is a good-looking one for everyone. People aren't wearing enough hats.

And no matter where you are, there's always ebay.

But by all means, find a haberdasher who can block and fit the hat for you. Nothing is sillier than someone wearing a hat that doesn't fit.
