RSS Question: I assume from the dynamic bit in the lower right corner that "Recent MeFi
posts by Metachat users" uses RSS to spit out that data? Let's say I had a blog and I wanted to do the same thing. What's the best way to "call" that data? I noticed Friendster now has this functionality, too. All you have to do is paste the url and it prints headlines to your user page. I've never understood how to implement such a thing for personal use.

[Not a very interesting post I realize, but I've never understood how the "Last 5 posts from MeFi"-type feeds were accomplished on the front end of web design. Anyone know how Friendster gets the XML to parse?]

What exactly are you trying to do? Display an arbitrary RSS feed on your blog as given, or display only selected entries which meet some criteria (as is done on the MetaChat front page)? What software do you use to publish your blog?

I use Wordpress. I'm basically just trying to have an area in the right column of the blog saying, "Last 5 New York Times movie reviews" and culling data from the RSS feed listed here. What's the best way to implement this? Thanks!

Hmm, I don't know anything about Wordpress. These two plugins seem to do what you want, though.

If a Wordpress expert doesn't chime in here, have you tried AskMe? "What's a good plugin for displaying RSS feeds in a Wordpress blog?"

Thanks, Dan. I'm very new to WordPress so I didn't know such a plugin existed. I'll install it and give it a try. The MeCha admin suggested MagpieRSS, but with the caveat I'd need programming skills, which I sadly do not have.
