01 November 2005

C'est Novembre So I know we had a thread about signups, but it's closed. Who here is attempting to do the NaNo thing this month?[More:]

OMG LET'S BE BUDDIES! (I'm Eideteker, of course). But it doesn't tell you when someone adds you as a buddy. Lame!
Me. I am called urbanwhaleshark. Ive stopped writing momentarily to chase a mouse back down its hole, and make falafels.

*sits down beside uws*

Falafels, you say?

Eideteker, I've been toying with this but November and December are the worst possible months for me to initiate a project like this...maybe later.

I was going to but I was overruled. :(

Ah, don't feel bad. I am acutally doing NaNo as a form of structured procrastinating. Every time I feel like slacking off, I remind myself that I have a novel to write, and then alluva sudden studying doesn't look like such a bad option. I anticipate a 4.0 GPA this term, thanks to this little stratagem.

I'm doing it. So far I've written about 250 horrible words, all of which I hate, individually and together. However, I did snag the following URL to immortalize my masterpiece: http://badnovel.blogspot.com - I can't believe nobody else was using it! (There's nothing there yet and there may never be.)

mygothlaundry please post text to that url. Please. It begs to be used.

I'm participating in NaWe2ApWriMo. National Web-2.0-App Writing Month.

I'm doing it. Blogging it here, along with a couple of my friends who are also doing it.

I'm posting mine to http://www.livejournal.com/users/gothwithalisp.

I'm LeeJay on the NaNo site if anyone wants to add me as a bddy. I'm not sure if I'll be blogging it yet or not. I've got a few ideas but so far the output is, well, incredibly bad and I'm not sure I can put it out there or not.

Hmm. Redirected from the soon-to-be-deleted Nov 2 post. Glad it was posted, though, cause I missed this one.

I'm in. First time. Behind already. (sigh)

Don't worry, dreamsign. It's only the first day. It gets much, much worse. ;)

Bloody hell, LeeJay. It's 3:30am, and I thought I just typed up a storm. Apparently it was more like 900 words. I'm going to sleep. (perchance to dream of plot resolutions)
posted by dreamsign 02 November | 03:30
900 words is not a bad start at all. I don't know if you're like me at all but the first bit is always the worst. Somewhere along the line I get into rhythm and it flows much easier. The first few thousand words for me are almost always crap that ends up getting thrown out.

I'll refrain from complaining that no one reads my posts, even though the phantom thread picked up by my aggregator seems to indicate just that.

Glad to have you all!

I was on the fence and then last night out of something or other I started, so I am in. Now I have noted this somewhere since I didn't sign up, that's a binding contract.

i can't. i want to, but i can't because of work and such. i'm already trying to do too much.

i am going to win this, though.

90 thousand dollas goddamn

Aw, sam, sorry to hear you can't join in. But hey! Every month can be novel writing month if you want it to be. Good luck on getting the Keene. I'm focusing more of my energies on winning a free Big Mac in the McDonald's Monopoly game. I feel my chances are better. :)

Divine_Wino, welcome aboard! I'm trying to trick myself into finishing by posting on the NaNo forums. I figure if I post there then I HAVE to finish, otherwise it would look bad.

No, LeeJay. The forums... they're a massive distraction disguised as "storybuilding research". Stay very far away.
posted by dreamsign 03 November | 00:17
Ha! That's where I've been for the last half hour. A half hour I could have been spent writing.

Are you dreamsign on the NaNo site as well?
posted by LeeJay 03 November | 02:25
A half hour I could have been spent writing.

Heh. That's quite a sentence there. I think it might be time for me to go to bed.

Whoo, first three chapters, aka "The Hook" to get folks interested.
posted by Eideteker 04 November | 00:30
Ohh, I like where you're going with that Eideteker!
posted by LeeJay 06 November | 04:05
Fun! I'd like to keep reading... Why not make another post when you've added more? (and cool info about "The King in Yellow", which I hadn't heard of before!)
posted by taz 06 November | 05:18
My semi-regularly updated NaNo journal is here, by the way.
