Mixup Ends. All swappers will have got the e-mail now. Please don't submit any more mixes now, I simply haven't got the time to deal with them. Sorry. For those of you who got in on time: Enjoy!
The next swap will probably be about mid-December.

:( I had (and still have) a great idea for a mix, but I didn't get to in in time. I'll just make the mix now and listen to it obsessively, all the while laughing at you poor people who can't enjoy it.

Can't wait to get home!

Yay! Except, boo, my laptop is at home.
posted by gaspode 26 October | 17:02
maybe you can dj it, or post it here so can download it anyway.
two of what would be mine are all in YSI links on site that may or maynot be dead.
posted by ethylene 26 October | 17:02
Hey, you guys could do RadioMecha with the CDs! Then we could all share.

(missed this one due to expert grade slacking, sorry!)
posted by loquacious 26 October | 18:20
I tried to upload my mix, but I couldn't get a good connection. The problem is on my end, but that should be fixed well before the next swap.

I might try radio mechat but my mix is really more of a "sit and listen to the whole thing at once" kind of affair. It tells a story, and I really dug into the lyrics to get rid of all the anomolies -- and I do mean 'all' -- while maintaining the integrity of each song.

Anyway, something for you guys to anticipate for December. I might consider snail-mailing copies but that would depend on my finances.

and, er, sorry for not doing one of those m3u things. and not naming my files properly.

posted by flopsy 26 October | 19:21
The one dupe I've seen so far was Tank!, which is about as good a dupe as you are going to get.

Just unpacking the archives was fun, actually... everybody did things a little differently. It's a good thing I have WinRAR. :)

is anyone else having a problem with some of the downloads?
i've had two freeze and crashes so far but it could be because i have to gut this machine.
(i've got doubles too but sorting through all my doubles gave me time to look through and listen to my music. apparently, last time i loaded up matilda's three times)

I only had time to download three of the mixes before I had to leave for work. Oh, the anticipation...

amberglow, I'm gonna take the fact that you put "sense" on yours this time as a compliment, seeing as I had it on my last one :)

Eh. I'm just gonna do it as a YSI and post it here. (Any of the rest of you who would like to do that, I'd be happy to get your music.)

What's the mixup?
posted by Eideteker 26 October | 22:12
Flospy's mix is not a ZIP file, it's a RAR file (another type of archive.) In Windows, they can be opened with the WinRAR app, among others. Not sure about OSX.

I had to open yours in WinRAR as well, ethylene. My computer wasn't sure what it was, but that worked.
posted by selfnoise 26 October | 22:44
could someone tell me what's on mine?
also, nixxon's file was empty for me. i think those two caused the problems i had.
i'm listening to wolfdaddy but, sorry, i don't have the time to transform any non mp3 files yet, heck i still haven't gotten to do that for the old ones.

Well, that kind of blows. I haven't the slightest idea what happened. The download had completed before I left. Depending on people's preferences, I'm more than happy to burn and mail the mix (woo hoo! Non bill related goodies in the post!) or post links via yousendit and send the info d/l info and tracklsting via email.

If I burn cd's and drop them in the post, I'll put something extra in there to help compensate for the wait. If I do it via yousendit, I stick to just the tracklist.

Again, sorry and let me know.
posted by Frisbee Girl 27 October | 04:54
You should still have got the e-mail though. And could you try uploading again?

Sorry, but clearly the service provider's quality of service has dropped off quite a bit since last time and I might have to consider other alternatives for the next swap. Shame.
posted by dodgygeezer 27 October | 04:58
i'm uploading a .zip as I type
anyway mine was

1. Nice Weather For Ducks, Lemon Jelly
2. So Let It Be, Absinthe Glow

9. Swan Dive, Sister Hazel
10. Other Side Of The World, KT Tunstall
11. ...And The Moment Passes By, Halfway Home
12. I Will Follow You Into The Dark, Death Cab For Cutie

probably not worth downloading
as i have terrible taste in music
and everything else

every mix opened fine

you can look at the pretty pictures in my booklet though. broadband only! 3mb
