Car Karaoke! (mp3) A Renault Formula 1 V10 engine sings Queen's "We Are the Champions." (An explanation here.)
YM "Caraoke." HTH.

Cool, weirdish machine-music appropriation. I know one of the things they do in engine building and testing is to test and tune the harmonics of the engines at various RPMs. I remember reading somewhere about some engine design where they scrapped the whole thing and started over because they just couldn't get the harmonics right.

I wonder how hard it was for the driver to do the live, non-dyno version they are talking about in the article, and how it sounded.

However, this thing better not end up as a ringtone promoted by some stupid naked frog.

i almost want a cell phone so i could have we are the champions play out of it.
but i'd probably go for killer queen like on the gay bar jukebox.
it doesn't make a good ringtone, though.

i like the walkie talkie functions and other mobile stuff but not when people call me when they are in line or such and have nothing to do as they are making me party to that "hey, i need to be on the phone right now i'm so important" thing.
and all they do is talk of bubees.
and still don't understand why i could use my old first powerbook and old clone comps and a think pad to call the police and dial but not as an answering machine.

has anyone tried skype yet?

4 1/2 more months without F1, no A1GP in America, only two more WRC rallies.

I think I'm going to get the shakes.

See if you can catch some of this, mosch. Not only will it provide you with a fix while your favourite category is taking a break, it may even convert you to real racing cars.

I've seen a few V8 supercar races, but never followed a full season. They seem like good racing!

In an ideal world I'd have enough spare time (and the satellite feeds) to watch a lot more than my current regimen of F1, WRC and Champ Car.

Well... in an ideal world I'd also have the funds to run competitively in the Daytona Prototypes, or maybe the PWRC. But I'd settle for time to watch a few extra series ;)

Yeah, the category has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, spawning at least 3 spin-off categories that I know of. I think it is testament to the strength of the category that the indy cars played second-fiddle to them at last weekends Indy 300 on the Gold Coast. The formula of retaining a reasonably even Holden vs Ford battle (and rapidly changing the rules whenever the balance starts to tip one way or the other) has proven to be a winner for everyone and nobody seems to care that the cars only bear a superficial resemblence to those in the showroom.

It is great to watch in TV, but far far better in person - you miss a great deal of the pushing and shoving on TV.
