The only good thing about Yankee magazine was the Earl Proulx column where he did just that thing; identified strange objects discovered by readers (most f said readers being disagreeable yuppies discovering said objects during the process of ruining authentic farmhouses they'd bought for pennies on the dollar by pulling out warn chipped soapstone counters to replace with granite, and other such abominations throughout, &c&c&c).

It was funny to have a subscription of Yankee magazine forwarded to me when I lived briefly in the Shenandoah valley of VA. Like having your copy of "Out" sent to your office at Focus on the Family.
