Home What makes a place 'home' for you? [More:]Assuming Maslow's conditions have been met, what are the specific qualities that make a place or environment feel like home for you?
My loved ones are close to me.

For real? Nothing. Maybe... maybe my photo albums.

I've managed to uproot myself and live in a few places around the world carrying only the clothes on my back, a few books and photos. As long as I can keep in touch with my friends, I'm happy. a broadband connection?

Although I guess now I also better say mr. gaspode should be there, too.

That's a good question, Fris. I think it's having my oldest cat and all my books around me.

Wherever I hang my hat.

Or where the ones I love most are.

I'm a packrat. I like my stuff. My house verges perilously close to clutter overload, but I've moved a lot and whenever I get everything - from books to furniture to shells and rocks and the clay dinosaurs the kids made in kindergarten - unpacked I'm always just so happy.

Specklet, I've got my woobie around me now and a fire blazing. Aahhhh...home.

I googled woobie and saw that it is a pet-saliva saturated chew toy. Freaks.

Home is anywhere warm and quiet.

My toilet. There's just nothing like using my own toilet. Can't be duplicated. Of course, I'm kind of a toilet snob.

My computer and my cat. My books help, but aren't necessary.

Trying to get Kenny to give up his security blanket

Jack Butler: I understand that you little guys start out with your woobies and you think they're great... and they are, they are terrific. But pretty soon, a woobie isn't enough. You're out on the street trying to score an electric blanket, or maybe a quilt. And the next thing you know, you're strung out on bedspreads Ken. That's serious.

Loved ones. Minimally, Mrs Nomis.

Ideally, I'd like my home to be Karekare, but career circumstances make that something for the future.

nomis, can I come visit?

I spend way too much time on the road. Home is where my honey is.

Everything else is disposable. (except my puppy)

Specklet, I'll be there over Christmas/New Year. Come on down. I might even cook up a dish of karekare...

home is where my heart is

yet i am usagi yojimbo
a masterless nomad

or more a kirin
who flies the world and does what it must

as by the impertitives of a shaman
we must battle evil in our path
despite our peacable ways

part of why i like the internet
it makes me mobile
with my homies at hand

Holy Christ on a Cracker, what is up with everyone and their mother talking about Maslow these days? I think in the five years I've been studying psych, he's been given 15 minutes total but in the past month I have heard him mentioned half a dozen times. Did someone dig up his research and put it in the latest Chicken Soup/GTD/Dan Brown book?
posted by Eideteker 25 October | 01:15
it was my maslow's aztec heck shack comic
which is weird because it's mostly still unpublished

and it's an easily accesible diagrammatical way for people to understand

up top with ms. elandor!
