If you were president.... what song would you pick to replace "Hail to the Chief?"

I like the Kill Bill theme meself....what say ye?
Either "Gonna Fly Now," or "I Stand Tall" by the Dictators.

or maybe even "Don't Stop Believin'" No joke.

The Imperial March.

That clown music that everybody knows.

"Hail to the Chief" gets replaced by the "Baby Elephant Walk", and the National Anthem gets axed for "Get Up, Stand Up" by the Wailers.

I'm going to go with either "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" (which I think is what bunnyfire means by the Kill Bill theme) or "Smoke and Mirros" from RJD2. Good songs, and the titles are appropriate.

If Arnold were ever to become President through some strange turn of events, he should of course use "Anvil of Crom". And wear furs and a giant sword. And brood on a massive throne of stone.

Yeah.

Indeed, selfnoise, I did indeed have "Battle Without Honor Or Humanity" in mind.

Rocks, it does.

"I Just Want to Have Something to Do" by the Ramones. And the Presidential seal would be remade into a parody of the Ramones seal.

Loony Tunes Theme

Although these are all great (I especially like Iron Man), if we 'mercans were smart, we'd legislate in a non-imposing-type song, to be played whenever the prez, whomever he (or she) might be in the future had to enter a room, the better to take him (or her) down a peg and remind him (or her) that he (or she) serves at the will of the people, and should not start taking on any imperialistic airs.

The Barney Theme comes to mind. Or, say, Mr. Rogers' "Hello, Neighbor!" ditty.

Or, heck, the Loony Tunes Theme.

“Don’t Bet Your Money on de Shanghai”. I’d want Vincent D’Onofrio to sing and dance through the number as he did on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
posted by Smart Dalek 18 October | 22:29
Oh, yeah–I’d also want the Ramones’ “Howlin’ at the Moon” for my campaign song.
posted by Smart Dalek 18 October | 22:31
Whenever I enter a room, I always imagine either "Whoomp, There It Is" playing, or "Poor Little Fool", depending on my mood at the time.

"Baby Elephant Walk" (warning - midi) is imposing?

Damn It Feels Good To Be a Gangsta by the Ghetto Boys. But they might have to remix it with a heavier bassline and more swearing. And take out that stuff about finding your way by following the Lord.

Or Natural One by Folk Implosion but then you'd have to funky dance through part of it and that might seem a little silly after the second time. Or first time.

I'd also play War by Bob Marley alot just because its a good reminder.

Narcissus by Ethelbert Woodbridge Nevin, played on an out of tune upright piano with built-in brass candle holders. The performer would always be the oldest white-haired piano teacher available.

Flashlight by P-Funk. And just as the "everybody's got a little light ..." part was echoing out, I'd rise up through a hole in the floor. There'd be smoke and stuff. I'd wear a James Brown cape. It would be awesome.

"Behold the Lord High Executioner" from The Mikado.

Or should we play that for Abu Gonzales?

Well, if Christine McVie's "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow" was Clinton's theme, she has one for this administration as well.

Good America: People Get Up And Drive Your Funky Soul by James Brown. (all nine minutes, Scorpio-ah, a radio dj in New Orleans always used to announce this song by saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, please rise for our national anthem." For one second each time it happened I was in a better world.)
