Men in kilts I spent today at Atlanta's Highland Games. [More:]

I was actually thinking about linking this here as I was uploading the pics, but then when I saw mygothlaundry's awesome Flickr self-link, I decided it was a sign!

C'mon, they have an event called SHEEP TOSSING. Even if you're not into men in kilts, you gotta love that.

Seriously, though, it was a great time. (And yes, my partner and I are both part Scottish- he even has a cool Scottish last name with his own clan tartan and everything.)

I sense a new euphemism being born.

I overheard a guy in front of me ask, "If this ends in a tie, will they have a toss-off?"

And BTW, I wasn't man enough to face the haggis.

Nobody that's ever eaten a hot dog has any reason to turn their nose up at a haggis. (For the record, I enjoy both. Fair fa' your honest sonsie face...)

Ach, pour enough Macallan down me and I'd give it a whirl. One time in a cheap Japanese place on Stuyvesant Street* I ate three servings of chicken hearts on a stick before I knew what they were. They were real chewy.

*said cheap japanes place, in it's back room, housed the best cocktail bar in NYC.

That's fabulous - I love me some men in skirts.

...and some festive music for ya.

Don't we all, mygothlaundry.

Hmm... not getting the connection with that song, jonmc.

no connection at all, except that it's festive.

i love men who can pull off wearing skirts
and hearts

anyone can make something good from foie gras and truffles, but making due and making it goood is an art.
that's the kind of iron cheffing i wanna see
"You each have and hour and the contents of this minifridge--"

*glad the sun set and i get to eat something magickally delicious*

They actually just like the breeze between their legs. That's the big secret you chicks have been hiding from us. That said, the day you see me in a skirt will be the day hockey season starts in hell, but carry on.

Why do Scotsmen wear kilts? Sheep can hear a zipper a mile away.

Kilt: What the Scotsman (or Irishman, in my family) did to the English fop.

Who cares what the sheepfuckers are wearing? It's the goddamned caterwauling of their bagpipes that sends me up to the top of the belltower.

Worst. Fucking. Instrument. Ever.

Oh, now, I think bagpipes are awesome. There were generally not one, but TWO bands of them playing at any given time today (well, yesterday, now), on fields at opposite ends of the park. They made a great background for all the Scottish-ness going on.

Yes, but try having to suffer through lunch while some fool bangs out Debbie Gibson covers and see if your tune doesn't change ;)

Kilts and bagpipes are awesome. Period.
