Has your brain ever mutinied? I think my brain is trying to jump ship this past week...[More:]on friday, i had the worst panic/anxiety attack ever. It was so bad i was physically sick...spent the next 10-12 hours in the fetal position, trying to put the puzzle back together. Then last night, at work, a migraine arrived, like a thousand screaming fighter jets landing right behind my eyeballs...my vision blurred, then i was so nauseous, that had to go lay down...i got sent home from work (a friend walked me home)...then spent the next however many hours in the fetal position in the darkest room of my house...so, i think maybe my brain is trying to kill me...
See a doctor ASAP to rule out a serious physiological threat.

seconded.. Also, you been loosing your balance lately? Then don't wait call now.

If it turns out to be of a chemical or emotional nature you will still need help but it may be from a MD, councilor, friends or family. It may or may not involve drugs and or therapies of differing types. The only real advice I would offer is don’t try to take care of this alone. Something is trying to get your attention. Listen to it and get help.

my balance is spectacular...the anxiety attack was brought on by a particular feeling of being lonely and lovesick that induced a nasty mood swing...

alas, the only way i can go to a doctor, is if i go to the ER and give them a name like joe bob mullet-face or something like that, as i am poor and uninsured...

just feeling extra insane this week

my [close] friends know about this and are helping as best they can, but unless i win the lottery (or the equivalent windfall) a doctor is impossible...

i was thinking it was a little bit more like pi, as i don't live in NYC and am not a vet....

Schyler, I think you're just incredibly stressed, and your body is responding by making it impossible for you not to take a time out.

I know you are poor and health-insuranceless (join the club), but I have some low-cost ideas that could really help. Let me know if you want some advice on things like mental relaxation, remedies for panic attacks, amino acids that can help your brain chemistry, etc. Sadly, I've got quite a bit of experience with this.

Schyler,

I too am poor and uninsured. I go to my local community clinic when I badly need to go to the doctor. They often offer low- or no-cost prescriptions, and the office visit (for me) is $20.

You should go, especially since you've been under so much stress lately.

Here's a list of clinics in Missouri.

No stigma. These places exist for people like you and me (and people who have it even worse than we do).

so far today, the combination of several cups of coffee, NYT crossword, and lounging about on metachat have eased my mind considerably...

but, now i'm off to put flyer's up about town for various rock shows...so i'll be incommunicado until next time...

don't worry, i'm in good hands here...my best friend in the whole world is by my side, we're like forrest and bubba, making sure neither of us ends up in the mud...

i love you all...i didn't mean to alarm you this much...

OK, lower the Schyler Alert Level to YELLOW, but you have to check in before 16:50 tomorrow or a lot of us other MeChatters will end up in the fetal position.

And trust the free clinics, Schy; they know a lot of good tricks to keep their clients alive. One here in L.A. told colorful lies to the drug companies to get me the meds I needed to control my blood pressure and keep me from exploding; my medical expenses are going UP now that I'm on Medicare (but I'm not complaining).

So there you go.

Many of us MeChaErs rely on low-income health care.

We rock.

And we live another day.

Just do it.
