I just bought some more mulch. [More:]And mums. And asters. And pansies and purple winter kale. And some straw bales to make a fall arrangement with some pumpkins.
Nice. I put in asters and pansies a couple weeks ago but I can't bring myself to do the mulch dance yet. Soon, however, it will be time to get the Halloween decorations out of the cellar - yay! I love my Halloween decorations.

When I go up through the mowing field,
The headless aftermath,
Smooth-laid like thatch with the heavy dew,
Half closes the garden path.

And when I come to the garden ground,
The whir of sober birds
Up from the tangle of withered weeds
Is sadder than any words.

A tree beside the wall stands bare,
But a leaf that lingered brown,
Disturbed, I doubt not, by my thought,
Comes softly rattling down.

I end not far from my going forth
By picking the faded blue
Of the last remaining aster flower
To carry again to you.

A Late Walk

I have been getting mulch for the last few weeks at 3 yards per truckload, 9 truckloads thus far. I am almost finished. I think one more load will do it - a total of 30 yards of mulch. I am getting somewhat tired of it at this point. =P

This might be a sign that I have taken my hobby too far:

Some lady stopped by the house the other day with a flower from her yard. She wanted to know what it was and she drove across town to ask me because she just assumed from looking at my yard that if anyone knew, I would. She told me where she lived and it was right down the street from a big nursery. She passed a nursery to come ask me. LOL. And I just ordered a bunch of saffron crocus (yay!) and other fall blooming crocus tonight... along with a few more tulips and daffodils and hyacinths... *shoots self*

I recently moved a dozen established roses and about 400 bulbs along with a 60 foot long rock path and all the associated dirt. I have not yet got the mulch.
