There's a pumpkin patch just outside of town that also has a barn for the kiddies. Today a friend and I took our lunch out there, then pretended to be kiddies.

The calf -- he danced. I went in the pen with him, trying to get a shot, but he just kept prancing and dancing. Then he would stand up against my legs, so close that I never did get a good picture of him.

That little guy had the most amazing eyelashes I've ever seen.

One of the things that I miss the most from rural life are calves and foals. It's like the first few months of their lives are dominated by the constant, surprised and excited realization: "I've got legs!!"

One time, I got to wash a holy Indian calf with rosewater. he chewed on my fingers and had eyes that you could get lost in. Man.

I think all the pictures were adorable. I love soft furry creatures (much to my Dad's dismay: I wouldn't go shoot them with him).

Who shot the ones with you in them? Or was it a tripod and timer?
