2005 Singles I am a big fan of "pop" music, and every year, I compile a CD of all my favourite pop singles.
→[More:]My definition of "pop" is this - it has to have been played on mainstream radio or television in a somewhat heavy rotation. That is - think Gwen Stefani not New Pornographers. Any genre is ok, but the song must be reasonably good, or at least interesting.
Here is my problem - I am having a hard time this year finding anything worthwhile that was released in 2005, so I come here for help.
What have been your favourite pop songs this year? There is no shame in loving pop music, so don't be shy.
Here are a few of mine to break the ice.
Natasha Bedingfield - These Words (though the verses are terrible, but that CHORUS!!)
Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone (obviously)
The Bravery - An Honest Mistake (the closest Morrissey came to the mainstream this year)
Killers - All These Things That I've Done
Nine Inch Nails - Only (I love that this is getting lots of airplay)
Coldplay - Fix You (first half is dreck, the second have is frickin' amazing)
Beck - Girl (
the song of the summer)
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.
Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Goin' Down (killer hook)
Man I Used to Be - K-Os (got tons of play here in Canada, amazing song)
