03 October 2005

Radio Metachat. Just got some hosting sorted so help me test it out.
I'm particularly interested if the sound quality is good.

i needed something to combat my mood for bloodly vengence
thanks

it's kinda muted by half normal sound for me

It sounds great here. Thank you for putting this up for us!

my first radio fondness came from across the pond
it's fitting some how

Awesome, dodgy. It sounds good to me.

Sounds nice. A little muted. Thanks. How do you DJ it? Do we take turns?

Sounds good, stereo even. Weird that I'm hearing things but there's no evidence of wimamp running.

Sounds great here, I've had no hiccups in the stream even though I'm also downloading a bunch of other stuff right now. Well done.

Yeah, folk will have to book blocks. It's still going to take a couple of days to sort other stuff out before we get to that point though. Watch this space...

Sound quality is ok - a little noisy on some songs, but I can deal with that, since there is no buffering or choppiness at all.

you've been reading my mind
i love my dodgy dj
now i've channeled my mean reds into loud singing

Awesome, dodgy. You have done such a good job organizing fun toys for us.

Does anyone know why I might be having problems getting onto this thing?
posted by Specklet 03 October | 15:43
your player, maybe?
posted by ethylene 03 October | 15:46
Specklet, if I remember correctly you can only access the internet at work. Most likely cause then is your company's evil firewall - they won't like strange ports.

Sorry...

Clever, dodgygeezer. Well played.

Sounds good here: Mac OS Panther** / Apple speakers / iTunes 5.0

** I know, I know.
posted by safetyfork 03 October | 15:57
Yeah, internet at work only. Stupid firewall crap thingy!

This makes me very very sad.

every time you play the rezillos i'm afraid it's tv party

Sounds fine, for a shoutcast stream. Is web DJ-ing just making a playlist, or is there any actual airtime?

These are the nuts and the bolts of the mix and screws in the threads of the airtime
This is the sound behind the machine...

Umm... I'm getting some skipping, particularly near the beginning of songs. Perhaps there is not enough upstream?
posted by Eideteker 03 October | 17:37
Woohoo! I'm here, I'm here! I'm happy.
posted by taz 03 October | 17:39
It sounds good. Ooh, I look forward to having this at work.
posted by BoringPostcards 03 October | 17:57
Well that's it. Hopefully I'll get this open for other folk to use soon.
posted by dodgygeezer 03 October | 18:09
yes, because there's more to music than clangorous british punkpop.

:-)
posted by quonsar 03 October | 18:22
You say clangorous like it's a bad thing
posted by dodgygeezer 03 October | 18:24
I somehow missed this yesterday - nice job on setting up mechanics. I'm bummed I missed another dodgygeezer set.

Regarding the skipping, the last set of yours I heard had a skip at the first 2 or 3 seconds of each song. I attributed it to my player oe connection. It's not what I'd want to hear in a broadcast, but it was something I could ignore in favor of great tunes.
posted by Slack-a-gogo 04 October | 07:53
Yeah, I didn't really respond to these points about the skipping. Most likely that was an issue at my end.

All being well I might be able to get someone to guinea pig tonight and we'll see if those problems resolve themselves.
