Blotto-I Wanna Be a Lifeguard Forgettable new wave novelty ditty from a forgotten band--Blotto, the pride of Albany, New York. From Lost Bands of the New Wave Era. More Blotto here. I wish they had "She's Got a Big Boyfriend."

Now I want to find some MP3s for the other regional bands of my mispent youth--The Reducers, New Johnny 5, and the Pajama Slave Dancers.
What, no "Metal Head?" One of the best parodies ever.

jonmc - we're on the same track here. I saw Blotto and I just assumed it had to be Metal Head. The dozen or so false endings made it a favorite song for me to end my college radio shows with. It was great watching the next DJ try to visualize how much time was left by where the needle was on the grooves, then the song would "end" and they'd leap to hit the next record and it would start again. Usually they would have already started the next record and had to turn it off, and then recue it, only topanic when the song "ends" again. Repeat many more times. It always put a smile on my face. That and songs with endless grooves at the end.

I have an mp3 on my HD that purports to be by them. It's a classic James Bond parody. I think it's called "Good Evening, Mr. Bond".

You like your martini shaken, not stirred."

Gawd. I forgot Blotto existed. I remember I Wanna Be a Lifeguard, but only after listening to the opening riff. I went to college near Albany and there were a few Blotto fans in my freshman dorm.

Ah, those carfree days....

...which are currently being enjoyed by my son (who just started his first semester of college).

BTW, jonmc, you just need to dig a bit deeper.

Oh, I already have an mp3 of the song, dude. I just didn't want everyone else to be deprived.
