Two things I thought of while reading the "Ten Things" thread.→[More:]1. I love you guys.
2. Is anyone working/can anyone work on an adaptation of Metafilthy for Mecha? That was a long-ass thread.

It keeps track of how far you read in the comments on a thread.

If I weren't a total computer idiot, I wouldn't be asking this: what's the advantage of keeping track of how far into a thread you get? Can you somehow go back to where you left off?

When you reopen a thread, it automatically jumps to the point you stopped reading before. If you were at the end, and there are new comments, it will take you to the first of the new comments.

Interesting. I will have to check out this Metafilthy.

Also, the data marketing guy that I usually just sell Metafilter email addresses to was extremely excited over that 10 things thread and suggests that the site make similar threads in the future.

How does it know what you have read? Do you have to plug it into your brain or something? Coz that would be a bit too scary for me.

dg, it only knows how many comments were there the last time you visited the thread. If you don't read them all, you just have to scroll up.

weretable, if you're one of those BzzAgent spy bastards, we (meaning I) will beat you death with a damp sock.
