The hunt for black light scorpions [More:]So ok, I've been stuck in the desert for over a month now and bored out of my mind. The other night, someone told me I should go hunt scorpions at night for fun and amusement. I said, "No way!". He said, "Way! Do it!". Off we go to Wal Mart (forgive my shopping site, it's all we've got here) and bought black lights and hard hats. Stuck the lights on our heads and went to look under rocks for scorpions. We found some. I shit myself and screamed like Jeff Gordon does when his coffee enema's too warm. Scorpion hunting freaking rocks. There should be a channel dedicated to this sport. They sorta look like this picture when they are found. That's all. Sorry for the length. Toodles.
Get. The. Fuck. Outta. Here.

And I thought cow tipping was weird.

Oh dear. Yeah, that would freak my shit right out.

So, uh, what do you do with 'em once you find 'em?

That's worse than spotting alligators. The way you do that is you go out in a boat in the marshes around Edisto Island in South Carolina with a big flashlight and you drift for a while in the dark, so the gators won't hear you coming, and then you flash that big light around, and then you freak out seriously, although very gently and quietly, at the number of green eyes that are staring back at you through the reeds. And then you turn the outboard on real loud and zoom the fuck away from there and drink beer and pretend like it was nothing, man, shit, just a few gators.

Where you at, DeepFriedTwinkies? I'm in Phoenix/Mesa.

Mind the rattlesnakes.

In the UK we do the same thing with peoples' teeth in nightclubs. You wouldn't believe the shit I've seen man.

Bmarkey, you tip scorpions too. Just like cows. Usually 15%.

I'm in Yuma, loquacious. Get to go home on October 9th.

(Longbaugh, that made me giggle...)

Argh. I've been stung twice and don't fancy a third. Cool climates for me for awhile.

That's a great picture and story, DFT. I'm reminded of the times I went frog gigging in my youth, especially scary in snake-infested rivers in Kansas and Missouri because you're not sure what you're going to get, and wanting to scream loudly and run each time a snake came my way. But that's hard to do when you're in a boat. And then there's noodling, covered in a great documentary called Okie Noodling, and something I was never stupid enough to do. And cow tipping costs money. And no, frog doesn't taste just like chicken, but mountain oysters on the other hand.... Ah, the Midwest.

Glad you get to go home soon.

Prolly no one will see this because this thread is done, but did you know... that if you hold a flashlight on your nose and point it down over a grassy area, you can see all the little jumping spiders' eyes shining in the dark?

There's a lot of spiders out there, man.
