Hello, cowboy
"Every once in a while a film comes along that changes our perceptions so much that cinema history thereafter has to arrange itself around it."
Trailer.
Every now and again Hollywood feels sorry for filling our heads with stereotyped pap and releases an "Oscar Winning" movie that fails to make any money at the box office. Liberal Movie Producers are unaware that the movie causes more damage than good because what should actually be viewed as just a movie about people who love each other is actually promoted as ground-breaking and dangerous.

Many people demonstrate with banners. The Right hates the Left more, who in turn hate the Right more. People's views become even more entrenched. Nothing is resolved. The only good to come out of the whole sorry affair is that in some sleepy Hamlet in the Midwest a young man goes to sleep after masterbating over promotional material featuring an extremely nice photograph of Heath Ledger.

Hm, I'm totally confused... and still masturbating to my own depressingly un-groundbreaking fantasies. But I would still like to see this film.

Is that a bad thing, or a good thing?

You know... I'm really gonna have to learn how to spell masturbating correctly. It's just one of those words I can't ... um ... get my fingers around.

It does sound like a good film, but I'm already tired of the hoo haa surrounding it.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger gay for each other AND cowboys. AND Ang Lee directing. How you you lose?

-Do they eat pudding in this movie?
-Will my time be better served by just watching Midnight Cowboy again?
-Will it unseat The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance as the best gay western?

I thought Johnny Guitar had already unseated Liberty Valance?

I saw that trailer without sound a month or so ago. I have to say, I preferred the soundless version.

I'm looking forward to it, and let's lay off the pudding comments, shall we?

Seems like an argument against any kind of gay-related movie at all. I dunno, seanyboy, I think some cultural good can come of well-made tearjerkers, but agree these things are a helluva lot less important than the hype would have us believe. Stack any number of soaring tragic gay love movies against a concerted effort to dominate local school boards across the country, and guess which one wins?

I don't mind hype, I just got a problem with the "dangerous" tag.

Seeing as I have one of the most raging crushes of my life on Jake Gyllenhaal (oh, Donnie Darko, I love you!) all I can say is: yum.
