What is it called when one adds an extra syllable to a word. For example, "alcomahol", "saxamaphone".
I don't know what this is called, but I do it constamantly. Fortunately, most of the time it's deliberate. What I also do constantly that is not deliberate (and is therefore embarassing/frustrating) is spoonerize things. You know, instead of saying "I like fried potatoes" I say "I like pried fotatoes". Spoonerism.
i know a guy who accidentally spoonerizes stuff without hearing himself. i think it's medication-related. this morning he used the term "building a folid soundation".
