Just back from the movies... and I think I finally have a way to describe how I feel about the Bush jr. presidency as a whole. I call it "The Aristocrats".

Have you seen the movie? What did you think? And hell -- is it playing anywhere near you? (I know it's been banned in certain places)
i want to send a copy of this to the olson twins...

Bob Saget is teh gross king!

My throat was sore the next day. Not from a cold or strep, but from laughing so much.

Towards the end, though, something kept nagging at me: why's Rob Schneider there with all those comedians?

It's playing down the street here in Vegas, but I don't have much interest in seeing it. Ebert pretty much sums my thoughts in his review. Also, looking through the imdb list of comedians, I only saw 7 or 8 whom I have any interest in seeing.

Besides, I am the kind of person who loses sight of the humor when mindlessly repeating the same gag. ;-P

at the theatre/bar it was showing here, while it was showing the bar patrons were invited to tell the grossest joke they knew...

it averted the 'mindlessly repeating the same gag'...

I haven't seen it yet, but have been looking forward to seeing it for a long time. It was (still is?) showing here in Albuquerque, though. Where has it been "banned"?

I'm disappointed in Ebert's review because I admire and generally agree with him. I hope that doesn't mean that I might not like the film.

The negative reviews are kind of a litmus test of the reviewer, aren't they?

It's been 'banned' in as much as the producers did not seek a letter rating and many theatre chains refuse to show unrated films. Of course, many theatre chains refuse to show NC-17 films as well, so you can see the bind that the producers were in.

I saw it last night. Liked it. Didn't love it. Love the idea behind it, but then I'm kind of a folk lore nut. It is amazing that they could make a 1.5 hour movie out of the subject matter and still keep the audience well entertained throughout.

Saw it. Thought it was pretty damned funny, and was impressed that it held my interest (which I attribute to good editing). I also now harbor a lust for Sarah Silverberg that smolders quietly, steadily, and stinkfully like a tire fire in the dump of my heart.

I thought it was brilliant. Sarah Silverman was the best I thought.

Schyler-My friend Dave Wilson is the guy who founded ragtag, the movie series, not the cafe. Now he runs the film festival in bocomo.

I saw it this weekend, at the big downtown theater in Portland, OR.

Yeah, Sarah Silverman was fantastic.

The part that made me laugh the hardest was not the best of the movie: Kevin Pollack doing the imitation of Christopher Walken.

AMC decided not to show The Aristocrats in particular, and to my knowledge, have no blanket policy about unrated films.

Disappointed that we didn't hear more tellings (I would have liked a full rendition from Stewart, Goldberg, and others). My fave: Gregg Rogell.

And Emo has really lost his thing.

Nah, I saw Emo about four years ago. He was hilarious, even without his funky ass haircut.

Eddie Izzard looks so weird not in drag!

Taylor Negron deserves a special award.

Especially in these trying time since the tragic events of January 3rd.

Since the hurricane, this is the first thing that made me laugh so much I peed a little bit.

After all the hype within--and without--the movie about the legendary recitation by Gilbert Gottfried at the Friar's Roast for Hugh Hefner, all they could do was show a couple of short clips interspersed with people talking about how great it was. What was up with that ? Copyright ?

I wanted to see the whole Gottfried bit unedited. I was so disappointed.

My other advice is go see it with someone who really wants to see it. I had a very disgusted woman who kept looking at her watch sitting beside me. That kind of spoiled things.

Two fifteen year old boys were behind me. I laughed MUCH harder than they did.
