1-800-588-2300 [More:]Empire!

Except the "1" is gone from the jingle. What's up with that? When did they delete the "1"? It's not like you don't have to dial it. Their site is no help; it's self-congratulatory about the fact that everyone can sing it, but they won't fess up to the disappearance of the "1". The damn jingle sounds naked without it.
As a Chicago resident, you should know that once upon a time it was just "588-2300."

Just a guess, but I think most people understand that they have to dial 1 before an 800 number, so Empire decided it wasn't needed in the jingle. That's an extra 1/2 second they can sell!

I tried to call you before but I lost my nerve.
I tried my imagination, but I was disturbed.

Jenny, I got your number,
I need to make you mine.
Jenny, don't change your number,
8-6-7-5-

"867-5309. No, that's not it. Damn you, Tommy Tutone! 111-1111! Lois? Damn! 111-1112! Lois? Damn! 111-1113..."

Though I grew up in Texas, my extended family is in NW Indiana -- Chicago broadcast range. I spent a week or two up there every summer.

Even in my brief experience with Chicagoland, I so totally know the Empire jingle.

Goatdog, you're a cruel one. Earworm indeed.

we never had that one here--i'll go to my grave tho, singing "1-800-mattres", and "226-0841...Beautiful Mount Airy Lodge."

look for
the union label
when you are buying
a coat, dress
or blouse

remember somewhere
our union's sewing
our wages going
to feed the kids,
and run the house.

We work hard,
but who's complaining?
Thanks to the I.L.G.
we're paying our way!

So always look for
the union label,
it says we're able
to make it in the U.S.A.!
