Ah yes, the fashion industry, blinking in confusion at world events like a sloppily trepanned baboon since the reign of Louis XIV.

Can we just kill anyone involved in the fashion industry? We'll be eliminating some merecerany businessmen and anorexic glamourpusses and probably doing evolution a favor in the bargain.

start with the fool who invented the balloon skirt.
posted by dabitch 14 September | 15:44
Well we could do that Jon, but then who would tell us that we can use ties as belts and that things that aren't wild animals are "fierce, girl"?

Also, then models would have to go back to lying under nasty eurotrash old men with saggy scrotums and leather pants all puddled in the corner full time, instead of just weekly.

What were they thinking? I mean that seriously.

...which is sick.
posted by mcgraw 14 September | 15:49
Very, very wrong-headed. But what can one expect from an industry so detached from reality?
posted by me3dia 14 September | 15:49
awful.

mrs. pants: publically available info on the event? Or did I miss it? (Of course, I can't make it. Long drive -- but there are others who might).

Tame. Geez everyone is so tighty witey. Let's see some eyeballs drippin, some entrails soaking...oh wait, that's halloween.

Good lord.

If I ever see anyone wearing that I will make a point of throwing whatever I happen to be carrying at the time right at them.
Hopefully I'll be carrying either bricks, or maybe spaghetti sauce.

And I'll make a shameless plug, too. The club I frequent in Buffalo is holding a benefit on the 27th with proceeds going to the Red Cross.

The worst thing is that I am not all that surprised.

What?! The fashion industry thinks goths will be moving to white? I don't think so.

Designers: this is what happens when you get hung up on the fact that at the end of the day you're not really artists, just jumped up tailors. Now go make me some comfortable pants.
posted by PinkStainlessTail 14 September | 20:43
You forget that people in fashion take themselves seriously and consider themselves artists that other people look to for inspiration.

mrs.pants, your poster is just gorgeous.

If I believed in a hell I would think that whoever was involved in this piece of "art" is going to it.
posted by matildaben 15 September | 09:29
The only thing surprising about this, to me, is how fast it became a "gag".

Seriously, at Mardi Gras next year, there will be dozens of people dressed like this, only not as tastefully.
