Close to the Edge Who knew Yes! was so awesome? I get up! I get Down! Where is everybody?
Well, me, for one. Close to the Edge saved my life in high school. I've said it before, but I really mean it.

That's probably not bad recall for something I haven't listened to for twenty years or so...
I'm waiting for the big prog revival, and I think I can say confidently that it's on its way. I base this on the wildly enthusiastic and unironic love for the whole genre expressed by the very sweet boy who works up the street at the Our Town Cafe, whose band plays CMJ this month. Stay tuned.
Ah, the music you loved when you were 16 never gets lost-- "Every note engraved on your heart" as Thom Yorke said about The Smiths' The Queen is Dead...
In other news, all of Gentle Giant's albums are being rereleased as a box set.... Free Hand is frickin' awesome (or so my inner 17 year old reminds me). :D
I recently listened to Marillion's first album and was rather surprised at how much I liked it, since I tend to lean more towards the King Crimson side of the Prog genre.
Yes was definitely one of the better progressive concept album bands of the 70s & 80s. Unfortunately, not everybody "got it". And also unfortunately, they fizzled out into a pop band when the album rock era died out.
