HELP PLZ Is it possible to develop Tourettes later in life? Like, real Tourettes, not just cussing up a storm because it's fun.
There may be other syndromes with similar symptoms..
...yeah, like a brain tumor. There's a variety of things that can cause that sort of disinhibition. And some, I'm sure, that we would still think of as purely psychological.
Eric Johnson is a music teacher from Austin, Texas. He hosts bunnies in his distortion pedal and he can tell the difference between a true hare and a Duracell bunny. Little know fact: condom companies use his music to test the "Thinness” of their condoms. His message is Universal and his technique is awesome. I hope you enjoy this hour or more musican fun. For sure your guitar buddy might.
Seriously though, it might be juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, which, while it usually emerges by age 21, can appear as late as a person's mid-thirties.
It causes "jerks" which can seem an awful lot like "ticks", but usually it is much milder and less of a "social problem" than tourette's.
(I think I might have it myself, but I don't want an official diagnosis because what I call "the herky jerkies" doesn't bother me that much usually and I don't relish the thought of being on memory-affecting drugs for my whole adult life...)
