10[Powers Of]  • A website devoted to the famous film by Charles and Ray Eames. One of the Eames Foundation's sites featuring the legacy of this remarkable couple. I recommend The Films of Charles and Ray Eames, Vol. 1, as aside from Powers of Ten, it also includes a fascinating film documenting the complete dismantling of their office/workshop prior to shipping to the Library of Congress. Included also is the first draft of Powers of Ten. See also Bruce Bryson's web reimagining, and another from CERN.
sweet! thank you.

If y'all think this is a good post for MeFi, and it's not appeared already, please allow me to post it there myself.

It's fun to show Powers of Ten to folks that haven't seen it. Especially to the type of person whose curiosity is engaged by the idea but otherwise is mostly ignorant of much of what the film presents.

I'd like to see a new version of the film, done with CGI and up-to-date information about larger-scale cosmological structures (which, for those familiar with this stuff, this films predates some important discoveries). Another thing I've pondered is an improved and elaborated pedagogy concerning the relationship between expanding the view by an order of magnitude and "being farther away" from what is viewed.

There was an Eames post centered on the LoC collection on mefi in January. The Eames website was mentioned in the resulting thread.
