That was really cool actually. I was going to protest the coopting of the kangaroo for Britpoliticking but we've faced a similar move here -- closing of lots of P.O.s And it sucks. Not just for job losses.

They used to be like a community institution and now....starbucks as the song intimates and otherwise selling off of beautiful buildings and combining 3 former P.O.s into one mall shop. Bah.

Unfortunately for those outside of London everything is getting far less convenient. Privatised public transport has led to fewer buses and trains, huge supermarkets have led to the closing of local shops so if you don't drive then you're screwed. The Post Office is following this trend - personally I think the Post Office is one of the many things that should not be run as a business but as a public service, but hey...
